We survived our first Couchsurf!
The wet, cycling Finnish guys stayed, and it was great. Even Liam said so... high recommendation indeed. Which is good, because we have 2 more arriving on Monday and then 2 more on Wed and Thurs, cripes!!
Thomas and Johannes were really lovely guys. Thomas was especially friendly, Johannes was quieter but was very interesting when he did speak. Very intelligent. Both so polite.
It was quite funny when I met them, because I had managed to skive off work early, and was going to the TIC for a coffee with my friend Richard who is running away with his gorgeous girl to Spain. Lucky guy... but he really deserves it after working as a KP at our hotel for the last year. Seriously thankless job. He needs some sun, stress-free time and some serious loving. Anyway... I digress. We arrive for coffee and he looks at me quite strangely as I walk up to two bikes outside and say: "Ah, my Fins have arrived!". Go in, order coffee and walk up to two strangers and say: "Hi, Thomas, I'm Merriol... ". I left them to their coffee and cake, had my tea, and then brought them home.
The girls were at their Grandparent's house and arrived home just as Thomas and Johannes were sorting themselves out in the caravan. When Daisy walked in the first thing she said was: "Where are our visitors that are staying?"
Holly shone as a hostess, berating Liam for taking a biscuit from the plate, when it should be visitors first! :D
They went for a walk around the village and took some photos, then came back and Liam cooked and we ate, and chatted. It was lovely.
Really hope they keep in touch.
Here's me... taken by him!
